The town's name has undergone various grammatical transformations over the centuries. Originally known as "Fabbatux" in 1269, it evolved to "Ababuix" in 1385 during the reign of Pedro IV the Ceremonious. By 1543, it was referred to as "Fabaux," coinciding with Emperor Carlos V's decision to hand over governance to his son, Felipe. By 1722, the town embraced its present name, Ababuj. Each name change reflects a different era in the town's history, showcasing its resilience and adaptability through time.
